- No requirement of onsite team to manage indirect communication with the offshore team. These costs are significant and increase project costs substantially.
- No additional management overheads to manage the offshore relationship. These costs do add up.
- No visa hassles due to H1-B limits. Canadians can travel short business trips without visa for 90 days and on TN-1 up to one year, pretty instantly. Short trips of even one day are possible.
- You do not have to bring in last-minute local consultants to fight implementation and performance battles - due to offshore visa problems, onsite resource non-availability/shortages or high offshore travel lead times. These last minute persons are usually folks who do not know heads or tails about the project since they come into the project team at the very end.
- You will have good visibility into the project with assured project management oversight with adequate project status and reporting meetings in which you are directly involved. No worries about inadequate offshore management oversight and knowing about problems at the last minute when it is too late to take corrective action.
- Available telecom, internet and networking infrastructure on par with what you have in the US. No requirement to maintain local source code repository offshore when the team is supposed to be working on the common customer store.
